For the last three and a half months, I’ve been eating 1, sometimes 2 meals a day.
I fasted all day and ate my only meal at dinner time OR I ate a smaller lunch and the majority of my food at night.
For three months straight I didn’t stray from the protocol.
Did I get incrediblz ripped bro??
No. I actually took some steps back in the jaw-dropping physique department. Truth is, I’m nowhere near as sharp as I was before my fasting experiments.
Why, you ask?
C’mon. You know the answer.
I wasn’t watching my calories.
Well, I was (I always know how much I’m eating). But I tried to cheat the system by eating only once (sometimes twice) a day.
I put away enormous meals (4000 calories in one sitting? No problem) and, what do you know, I gained some weight.
But despite the fact that I put on a little bodyfat over the last couple of months, there is no doubt in my mind.
Not eating is the single most powerful health and physique tool I’ve found.
Stop Eating, Fatty!
You’re overfed. Your system is chronically overworked. You are always operating below capacity.
That is if you’re doing what everybody else is doing, i.e. eating frequently throughout the day and never experiencing hunger (and never moving a muscle).
Think of fasting as pushing your body’s reset button. Think of it as allowing your body to self-regulate and to operate at peak capacity.
You see, despite eating like a baby dinosaur every night (I got that nickname after people saw me putting away mountains of food without batting an eye), my skin never looked better, my sleep was never as restful and my mind never as sharp.
Not eating during the day* has made me a more efficient, a better machine. I literally felt invincible (more so than usual).
* I’ve found a couple of pieces of fruit and a cup or two of coffee throughout the day to work better than full-on water fasting. That’s all I need to perform at my absolute best, physically and cognitively. My main meal is always dinner.
But what about the weight gain?
That’s the easy part. All it will take me to get back into tip-top shape is a week or two of dialing my calories in (LEAN MACHINE is the answer).
Depending on where you are right now, it might take you a lil longer. If you’re a fatty, it might take you 6 months, 12 months or 2 years of dieting to look like a human being again.
Doesn’t matter.
It’s never too late. You’re never too out of shape. You’re never too far behind.
You start today and you’ll be better tomorrow. And the day after tomorrow you will be another step closer.
How To Get Your A** in Shape
How do you really lose the love handles and get in shape?
You start at the start. You don’t ask stupid questions like “How long will it take me?”, “How can I speed up the process?”, “What supplements do I need?”
No, Sally.
You start at the start and you keep going. One day at a time.
You eat at a calorie deficit, you move your body every day and you sleep 7-9 hours every night.
And you keep going.
You make this lifestyle work for you instead of against you.
You can eat 1 meal a day or you can eat 3 meals to hit your calorie target. Up to you. (But make no mistake, a low eating frequency is always preferred)
Whatever you decide to do, remember, there are no shortcuts. The short road, in the end, is always the long road.
Calories are king.
The Keto diet is bullshit. The Vegan diet is bullshit. Intermittent fasting is bullshit…
… if you don’t control your calories.
So stop wasting your time on these silly fat loss protocols and get real. How many times will you let these diet experts make a fool out of you?
Punch yourself in the mouth for every time you started a new fat loss program only to quit 4 weeks later and end up fatter than you were to begin with.
No more gimmicks. No more short-cuts. Start at the start and keep going.
You will never be in a position where you can afford to “stop”. You will never be able to just eat “normally” again (whatever that means to your fatass).
You. Simply. Keep. Going.
You keep your calories in check.
You keep getting after it in the gym.
You keep getting 7-9 hours of shuteye every night.
You keep going without looking for the end of the road. You keep going and you let the weekly progress fuel your momentum. You keep going until you look like a statue carved from solid granite.
And then? That’s right. You keep going until you’re six feet under.
There’s no turning back. Till death do us part.
Sound like a miserable existence?
That’s what most fat slobs would think. But the truth is once you lose all that excess fat and actually put some muscle on your body, you will understand where I am coming from.
Once your mind isn’t clogged up from the constant overeating and your body can move pain-free without choking on air, you will understand.
Once you’re lean, strong, and healthy, you will understand.
This is how life should be lived. This is the ONLY way life should be lived. Anything else is a miserable compromise.
I’ll see you on the other side.
