Who can you listen to? Who can you go to for unbiased fitness information? Me?
“I trust you Victor!”
I’m flattered. But at the same time, I feel sorry for you.
I know if you trust me just because I have a cool website, or because you think I’m utterly handsome, or simply out of good will, you’ll likely accept any advice you come across, no matter how questionable the source.
Trust no one
I don’t want you to nod in agreement to everything I say. I want you to go over my concepts, pick them apart, find what is useful to you and ultimately come to your own conclusions.
There’s so much (mis)information out there, it’s impossible to keep track of what’s going on. But luckily for you, there’s no need to get sucked into the industry’s marketing vortex.
Don’t listen to the noise.
Question the status quo and shield yourself from the bullshit by learning and educating yourself. Don’t accept anyone’s conclusions or truths if you haven’t tested them for personal compatibility. Knowledge and understanding of the fitness fundamentals will make you bulletproof to the false claims and empty promises.
The cream always rises to the top
If you decide to invest some time, you’ll start seeing patterns and similarities across different doctrines. You’ll start seeing universal rules that are not based on marketing quackery and have stood the test of time. Use these rules as guidelines in creating your own unique approach to fitness.
All I ask of you is to go into this world with open eyes, open ears and an open mind.
Take in as much as you can. Study, apply, adapt, learn. At the end of the day, this is what it’s all about. Learning. Yes, even in the realm of fitness. There’s only so many biceps curls you can mindlessly perform before you have to look beyond the surface, beyond what the magazines and so-called “experts” are telling you.
Only listen to the people that are where you want to be and that have gone where you want to go. If your dream is to be a 250 pound bodybuilder with 22 inch arms, I might not be the guy to listen to. If, on the other hand, you want to take your body beyond its current limits and reach superhuman status, you’ve come to the right place.
Knowledge is power
I disagree.
Knowing is not enough. You must go out there and do it. Armchair wisdom is meaningless. Only real world application and real world results matter. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty.
And once you do have a good grasp on this fitness thing, you’ll know that I wasn’t so wrong in the first place. As controversial as some of my ideas might appear, and as cocky as I might come across, I do occasionally hit the nail on the head. But you already knew that.
Thank you for reading
Victor
