Why haven’t you started yet? I’ve given you all the tools you need. How much longer are you going to wait for the right moment? When will you quit selling yourself short, putting other people’s needs before your own, and finally pull the trigger?
“I don’t have time to work out. I’m real busy and…”
Don’t make me laugh.
You’re not Elon Musk. You’re not Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. You’re not that busy.
There is no such thing as being too busy to work out. I don’t care if you have 6 kids and work 2 different jobs. Everybody has 30 minutes a day. Everybody has an hour a couple times a week. While you’re sitting on your couch watching Netflix, there’s someone with a much busier schedule, more responsibilities, more pressing issues, killing it in the gym.
How do you explain that?
Make it happen
It is not a matter of time. It is a matter of priority.
Wake up an hour early and get your training in before you head out. This is how champions start their day. The energy and motivation you’ll have to tackle the day is the competitive head start you’ve always wanted. Combine that with a freshly brewed cup of coffee and the world is yours for the taking.
You sacrifice 1 hour of sleep to build a stronger, better you. Unless, you know, you’d rather lie in your warm and cozy bed for another hour. It’s your call.
If you dread the thought of waking up early, get a quick session in after work, or before retiring at night. Whatever you have to do, make it happen.
What to do when you’re pressed for time
At some points in your life you will have to bend to a rigid schedule. This is not the time to cry and whine about your hard knock life. This is the time to rise to the occasion and make the most out of every minute.
This is your time to shine.
Grab the bull by the horns. The more pressure you face, the harder you have to dig your heels into the floor and stand your ground. Think of Atlas the Titan, carrying the weight of the world (the sky actually) on his shoulders. Do you think he stood there complaining about his stressful situation?
As I said before, if you truly want to, you’ll make it happen regardless of circumstance. You’ll figure out a way. In these instances your routine needs to be adapted to deliver maximum results in a restricted timeframe.
A guy walking into a gym doing pull-ups to complete exhaustion for 15 minutes straight will have a better, more productive workout than someone using 12 different machines and strolling from set to set catching up on the latest gossip with the fellas. “Wonder if that Julia chick’s really as easy as everybody says… I mean… do you think I have a shot..?”
Get in and get it done
In the following, I will show you how to grow bigger and stronger in 15 minutes. That’s right, I said 15 minutes. Intensity is the name of the game, baby.
Pick any 2 compound exercises (i.e. push-up, squat) and perform them back to back (superset) with 30 second rest intervals between sets. Take your sets close to failure. Do that for 15 minutes straight and you’ll have primed your system for growth. All you needed was 15 minutes.
Most guys fail to get it done in 15 years of training. All you needed was 15 minutes.
Sprints are another prime example of fast and effective full-body training. You can perform them anytime, anywhere. Go out into the parking lot. Warm up with a few squats and explosive jump squats and then move on to all-out sprinting for sets. Perform 15-20 second sprints with 2-3 minute rest between sets. Do 4-6 total sets. This will turn your legs into dynamite and upregulate your metabolism for the rest of the day. Not bad for 15 minutes of work.
Don’t have any room for sprints or acces to gym equipment? No problem.
What are you still waiting for?
While you’re trying to come up with an excuse for why it can’t be done, I’m already in the gym sweating like a pig. And that is exactly why I look the way I do and you look the way you do. Now get in and get it done.
